Pokemon is a video game-based franchise, the best known one to children worldwide.  Over 155,000,000 copies of its games have been sold in its 11 year history. 

Pokemon is the Japanese translation of “Pocket Monsters”.  Players of the game are designated as trainers and the goals of the trainers are to complete the Pokedox by collecting all of the available Pokemon species and to train a team of powerful Pokemon from those they have caught to compete against teams owned by other Trainers, and eventually become the Pokemon Master.   These themes of collecting, training and battling are present in all Pokemon games. 

Recently, Nintendo released Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, its fourth generation of game playing.  New fans are joining the Pokemon world and loving the competition and discovery incorporated into the new games.  The TV anime cartoon was updated in 2007 with the Diamond and Pearl series.  In addition to the TV series, ten Pokemon films have been made.
